TRIP DETAILS + INFORMATION
Join Little Wilderness as we embark on our first North Dakota adventure! A kayak trip down the Little Missouri River is a great way to experience the solitude and beauty of the North Dakota Badlands. This river is a key feature of the Theodore Roosevelt National Park. You can expect to see a variety of plants and animals as we paddle downstream!
We will be meeting near the town of Medora at Sully Creek State Park. There we will meet up with our group, guide, and Little Wilderness coordinators to start our kayaking adventure. On this trip we will be using tandem kayaks (one adult and one child), these kayaks are made for two people, and even have room for your stuff. We will work our way about 3 miles down the Little Missouri River to the Medora Bridge where we will exit. River water levels are usually fairly shallow, but floatable. There will be opportunities along the way to get out, stretch, and have a snack on sandbars. Kayak, paddle, and life jackets are included on this trip. We will provide a packing list following your reservation of other items to bring.
After being picked up and shuttled back to our starting spot, we will head into Medora and let the kids enjoy the Children’s Park while us adults rest! This park is a western theme complete with western looking equipment like a stagecoach and train engine. We will then wrap up our day with a meal together at Boots Bar and Grill. This meal is included in your trip cost and will be pizza/salad buffet style.
A block of 12 rooms has been reserved at AmericInn by Wyndham Medora, under Little Wilderness. They have a pool, hot tub, and continental breakfast. (*This is not included in your trip cost-must purchase and reserve on your own*) If you do plan to stay we can provide a list of other things to do in the area!
