TRIP DETAILS + INFORMATION
Have you always wanted to try camping, but are looking for a comfortable way to try it for the first time. Or maybe you have been camping but would love a new experience! Let us take some of the pressure off the “set up” part, as we arrive at a Glamping Campsite complete with a canvas tent which includes bed/cots, and bedding already set up for us! Each tent has a Queen size bed that sleeps two, and two single sized cots. We plan to have 4 per tent so if you are not coming with a group of 4 please plan to share with another group. This campsite will be entirely reserved for just our group. Nestled in the woods, near a MN State Park, and with access to some of the clearest water you have seen in a lake, this is a trip your whole family will love!
In true Little Wilderness fashion we will spend the majority of this event outdoors. Plan to arrive at check in after 3:00 pm August 25th, where we will get settled into our tents and unpack. We have a group reservation the first night for 5:30pm at ABC Brewing Company for dinner and socialization. With something for everyone to enjoy and get to know each other…they offer a variety of wood fired pizzas, craft beer, patio seating, yard games, and a pirate ship play area for the little kids. After your registration for this event we will start an email string to discuss optional group meals for the remainder of our stay (Campfire meals, etc.). Please note all meals are on your own for this event and not included in the event price.
Day Two: There will be some time to hang out at camp or explore town in the morning. Please plan to bring your own floating device, and a life jacket if you or your child are a poor swimmer. We plan to access the lazy river just a short distance from our campsite, and float downstream into the Glendalough State Park (approx. 1 ½ - 2 hours) where we will then get a ride back to our campsite. There are a few deep spots along this stretch but over all a slow current with mostly shallow waters. We can also spend time at a beach on the lake. We will wrap up our day by spending time around the campfire together.
Day Three: There is a bike path across the road from our campsite that will take us into the State Park where we can get in a morning ride before heading our own ways. The state park has its own trails, or go into town where we can stop for ice cream! Don’t want to bring your own bike, or maybe you don’t have one? No worries…there is a bike rental nearby. Options for bike rentals from them include: adult, youth, tandem, child carriers, and fun trikes. But if biking isn’t your thing - no problem there are also plenty of hiking trails nearby. We want this to be a fun and enjoyable experience for everyone!
