TRIP DETAILS + INFORMATION
We are heading to the stunning area of Carter Lake in Loveland, CO. We will be staying in tents on a waterfront site on the Pinewood Reservoir Campground.
Our first adventure begins Friday after check- in. We will do an “around the fire” meet & greet activity between Mamas and Kiddos. We will work on tent set-up, being “bear aware” and tree tying, prepping our fire by gathering kindling, firewood, etc and making sure our camp is ready for the evening. We will take a group hike and end the evening with a provided fireside meal and s’mores.
Saturday, we will wake up and enjoy coffee and breakfast around the fire. Youth fishing poles will be provided for use. We will be learning how to properly tie our bobbers and hooks onto our fishing line. We will also walk through baiting our own hooks. Then we will set out to do some casting practice at a small pond just West of Carter Lake. Those who already know how to fish can fish while the others get comfortable with their fishing poles. Rainbow trout, browns, Snake River cutthroat, and occasional lake trout can be caught from shore or boat. Tiger muskie (a cross between a northern pike and muskellunge) has been stocked and we will be targeting all species!
After fishing we will have some free time for lunch. Afterwards we can explore more trails, swim at the swim beach, or even try to paddleboard for those comfortable. A paddleboard will be available for use, but you are encouraged to bring your own floaties and extra sand toys if desired.
LODGING ACCOMMODATIONS + MISC. DETAILS
We will be staying in tents provided. There are 2 neighboring reserved campsites that will hold 6 people each. You will be sharing one with other moms and children you don’t know, but this is all about building a community and relationships together! We’re getting cozy!
You will need to bring your own sleeping bags. Youth fishing poles, bait, firewood, light snacks, and two dinners and s’mores will also be provided in the cost of the trip. Moms will need a 1 or 2 day fishing license and equipment if you plan to fish as well.
